Shooters win 5 medals in Eastern India meet

An eight-member Odisha squad bagged a total of five medals in the 3rd Eastern India Shotgun Championship, which was held at Midnapore (West Bengal) from February 9 to 12. According to a press release from Orissa Rifle Association, medals included two gold, one silver and two bronze.

Pramod Chandra Sahu of Anugul won both the gold in the single and double trap events. He was adjudged as the best shooter of the championship, which was hosted jointly by West Bengal Rifle Association and Midnapore Rifle Club.

The silver medal came in the double-trap team event with Pramod Chandra Sahu, Prakash Chandra Sahu (both Anugul) and Avinash Patnaik (Cuttack) representing the state. The two bronze medal were won in single-trap and double-trap team events, also involving Pramod Chandra Sahu, Prakash Chandra Sahu and Avinash Patnaik.

Other five members included Rajesh Mohanty (Bhubaneswar), Ashok Mohanty, Dillip Jee (both Cuttack), Diptimayee Patnaik (Dhenkanal) and Bharat Chandra Pradhan (Baragada) .
